School Based Mentoring
Going back to school has never been this much fun. BBBSCI offers adults and high school students the chance to mentor a child for 30-60 minutes a week during the school year at a school near your school, home or work.
Matches may color, play basketball, read a book or eat lunch together.
You don’t have to tutor. Although some matches decide to work on homework together, it’s not a requirement. The only requirement is a willingness to be a friend to a child. It might not seem like much spending just an hour a week being a friend to a Little Brother or Sister, but studies have shown this time has a very important impact. According to our 2006 mentor survey, here are just a few ways children enrolled in our School Based mentoring program are improving:
During the match, a School Based Match Coordinator will regularly check in with the match to foster the relationship’s growth.
With one hour a week, you can leave a positive legacy on a child’s life.
